Hooper’s Island is a low lying island on the Chesapeake Bay. It is habited by waterman who make their living catching crabs and oysters. Most of the island is actually marsh. This is an abandoned house on the island. The Chesapeake Bay is in the background and it seems like the lawn is marsh grass. Hooper’s Island is one of the oldest settled areas in Maryland—there are actually three islands: Upper Hooper’s Island, Middle Hooper’s Island and Lower Hooper’s Island which have the Chesapeake Bay on one side and the Honga River on the other side.
